Our beginners course is perfect if you want to learn to skate or brush up on the basics. You’ll learn the skating skills essential to becoming a roller derby player or referee; stability, stopping, changing direction and, most importantly, how to fall safely.
Once you have mastered the fundamentals, you can progress to intermediate roller derby training or train to become an on-skates official.
Check out our socials or see our LEARN TO SKATE page for our next rookie course date.
Roller derby can’t happen without a whole crew of volunteers. You’ll see on-skates officials wearing stripes, calling penalties and keeping everyone safe. They have an in-depth knowledge of the complex rules and the authority to make decisions which can affect the whole outcome of the game.
Off-skates officials are usually wearing black. They support both the on-skates officials and the teams. They time the jams, track and time penalties, keep the score and ensure the game runs smoothly.
